The Allentown Symphony invites choir directors from area schools, churches, and other community groups to submit a recording of a recent performance of their choir for consideration to the be the “Spotlight Chorus” on the Symphony’s 2023 Holiday Pops Concert.

We are open to all kinds of choirs; elementary, middle, high school, college, church, youth choir, community choirs, etc. Choirs need to be within a 50-mile radius of Allentown, PA. The music will be mutually agreed upon by Diane Wittry and the selected Chorus Director. ASO will provide the music so the Spotlight Chorus will not need to purchase it. The choir must be available for all dates:
TBA week of Dec 4-8 or Dec 11-12 in which Diane Wittry will visit the chorus’ regular rehearsal location.
Thursday December 14th – Technical and Staging rehearsal TBS between 5-10pm at Miller Symphony Hall.
Friday Dec 15th 7-10pm. Dress rehearsal at Miller Symphony Hall.
Saturday Dec 16 concerts at 2pm and 7:30pm

The application process is online https://bit.ly/42MyUR2 with a deadline of June 1, 2023. Directors may submit a URL of a YouTube link or Google Shared file.

The choir size can be up to 45 total; the number that fits the hall with a full orchestra on stage. There is an honorarium for the chorus and 1 complimentary ticket for each chorus member. The Holiday Pops concert typically sells out. This is a great learning opportunity for young singers as well as exposure for the choir program of any organization.
