Young Composers Competition: Space Edition!

2019 Young Composer Competition: Space Edition!
 

Submission Guidelines:

Student composers are invited to create a short musical composition (3 minutes in length, total performance time) based on a space theme, providing a written score of the composition with an audio file in midi format. Only instrumental compositions will be accepted
Must be written for at least two orchestral instruments to be played as melody and harmony or melody and accompaniment. Choice of instruments should include any strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion
Please provide a brief biography of yourself that includes names, ages and school or group affiliation.

ASA will select up to five winners, and their works will be performed during the ASO Youth Concert series in February 2019
Maestro Diane Wittry, in conjunction with a panel of musical experts will judge all entries made to the young composers’ competition

Eligibility

K-12 students are eligible in Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Monroe Counties and Warren County, New Jersey

Three Divisions of Competition

Elementary Student (grade level K-5)
Middle/Junior Level (grade level 6-8)
Senior Level (grade level 9-12)

Eligible students must reside and/or attend schools in Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Bucks, Carbon and Monroe Counties in Pennsylvania and Warren County, New Jersey

Competition Rules

Compositions MUST be student - generated
Only one submission per student or group (group size not limited)
Composition length should be no longer than 3 minutes (total performance time)
Submissions must be postmarked no later than December 1st 2018
