AUDITION APPLICATION
An audition application must be completed and e-mailed to Donna Fritchey, Operations Manager, in advance to be considered for an audition slot.

AUDITION EXCERPTS
Chorus candidates are expected to fully prepare their part (note, rhythms and text) of the excerpts indicated below.  At the audition candidates will be asked to sing their part by themselves with piano accompaniment.
1) Triumphal Scene from Aida - Verdi from letter A (top of page 299) to letter B (bottom of page 301), in Italian.

Responsible for section attendance and communications (rehearsal notes, etc)

Scholarship Quartet (Honorarium/Scholarship)
Outstanding college music major (voice major) with ensemble experience
Committed ensemble member with great work ethics (letter of recommendation required)
Excellent sound and intonation
Excellent music reading skill
Responsible for room set-up/break-down

Chorister (volunteer)
Experienced choral singer
Trained-quality voice/sound
Very good intonation + ability to blend
Very good rhythm
Very good reading skills
Ability to fully commit to schedule

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Vocalization
Solo selection (oratorio aria or art song)
Sight reading
Mandatory excerpts from upcoming work

*Those auditioning for Section Leader, Assistant Section Leader or Scholarship Quartet will most likely have additional requirements

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is the responsibility of each member of the Allentown Symphony Chorus.  If, for some personal or professional reason, you must miss a rehearsal, you must notify the Chorus Director, in writing, at least two weeks in advance.  No more than one absence per year/concert cycle will be permitted.  No absences are permitted during the week of the concert performances with the Orchestra.

MUSIC
Each person will be responsible for providing their own music and black folder.  There will be copies of the music and black folders available at a discount for purchase or as a pdf download from the Allentown Symphony.

DRESS
Black tuxedos with white shirts and bow tie for Men
Long black dress for Women
*At some point, more specific choral attire may be chosen
